It's an innocent-looking photo of a Simnel cake made to celebrate Easter , but this photo caused a woman's Instagram account to be shut down - 'because it looks like a breast'.

Instagram deactivated a woman's account because of this photo - can you see why?

Fiona Moseley posted the image to Twitter, saying: My Mum's @instagram account was deactivated for posting this Easter Simnel cake. IT'S NOT A BOOB. #BoobGate."

She continued to use that hashtag, along with #FreeTheSimnel, in fun bid to raise awareness of the 'automated censorship gone wrong'.

And it worked. After she racked up retweets and likes on the picture and her subsequent messages, her story started being shared across the internet.

The account has since been reactivated by Instagram, with the woman's first post alluding to the funny gaff, including the hashtag #FreeTheSimnel.

Mirror Online has reached out to Instagram for an explanation of how the woman's account came to be deactivated.

The social network relies on users to report content they deem unacceptable - and their team can then investigate whether the photographs that are flagged should be taken down or restored.

A spokesperson said: "We made a mistake here and restored the account as soon as we learned about it. Our apologies go out to Sue Moseley for the trouble we caused her"
