Her savvy mum tweeted Jo Whiley and Jeremy Vine who helped to free the poor student from being trapped inside.
A Brighton University student who was accidentally locked in as she went to collect an essay was freed thanks to help from celebrities on Twitter .
Emily Rycroft was stuck in the building after she went to the toilet at the end of the day and was locked in by caretakers.
She called her mum who at first didn't believe her, but then tweeted radio DJs Jo Whiley and Jeremy Vine for their help.
Luckily mum Gillian's tweet was finally seen by university staff and 21-year-old Emily was let out.
Emily, who is studying philosophy, politics and ethics, managed to escape after 'a couple of hours' and told the BBC: "I was going home from my boyfriend's house and I thought I would stop and pick up an essay that had been handed back in.
"I thought I'd nip to the toilet downstairs, had five minutes to spare before they closed up, but I think someone fancied going home early.
"They had locked the doors and must not have heard or seen me come in. I rang my mum and she thought I was joking."
She also tweeted a picture of the inside of the building while she found herself locked in.
A Brighton University spokesman said: "As soon as our security staff were informed of the incident they attended and released the student.
"The building was being locked a little earlier than usual and we apologise for any distress this may have caused the student and her family."
